PROPOGATION of QURAN: TAWHEED & SUNNAH

The teachings of this Tafsir (Exegesis) relies heavily on the commentaries and teachings of Shah Walli Ullah (Delhvi), Maulana Hussain Ali (Punjabi), Sheikh Ubaidullah (Sindhi), Shah Muhammad Ismail (Shaheed), Sheikh Muhammad Tahir (Panjpiri) and My Teacher Sheikh Akbar Khan (Badaber) (May Allah be pleased with them all). 

These Scholars all trace their teaching and commentaries back to the Tabi’in, Sahaba and Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم in a proven chain. (Please see the SANAD tab for the full chain). 

These great scholars mentioned above went to any extent in a meaningful or practical way to revive the study & understanding of Quran, and to teach its tenets of Tawheed. They explained the meanings of the Quran in such a beautiful and simple way that even the uneducated were able to understand and follow its basic concepts. They were revolutionary in their works which reflects the effects they had upon their societies after having to face hardships and tests from the local ulema & clergy. 

 I am neither a scholar nor a Sheikh; I am simply a student of the Quran. This brief explanation is an attempt to share the beautiful insights taught to me by my teacher, Sheikh Akbar. 

Sheikh Akbar always used to say that the Quran is like a letter sent to you directly from your Lord. The entire point of a letter is to open it, read it, understand it, and implement its message in your life. After all, He is your Creator. There is no benefit in receiving a letter from Allah only to leave it on top of a bookshelf gathering dust, without ever trying to understand what He is telling us. While we are certainly rewarded for reciting it in Arabic—as it was revealed as a recitation—the primary objective is for us to comprehend its meaning and bring its guidance into our daily lives. 

Reflect for a moment on the Day of Judgment, when we will be raised up before Allah. He will question us about the book of guidance He sent us. What will we say? Did we even look at it? Did we try to understand it? Did we act upon it? May Allah save us and have mercy upon us. Ameen.

The purpose of this Tafsir is to help the reader understand what the Holy Quran is, how it was revealed, and why it was sent to us. 

The goal is to make the Quran easier to comprehend and to help you appreciate its unique literary style. 

InshAllah, after reading this, you will understand:

 (This is) The Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that you might bring mankind out of darkness’s into the light by permission of their Lord - to the path of the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy –

 O mankind! Verily, there has come to you a convincing proof (Prophet Muhammad SAW) from your Lord, and We sent down to you a manifest light (This Quran)
